This course gives you the chance to learn some of the basic climbing skills in a practical and safe way. You may have only climbed indoors before or never really climbed at all. We will cover basic ropework, equipment selection, belaying, use of guidebooks, route choice and most importantly get the chance to climb some routes. Cragging and bouldering - we’ll do lots of climbing!

If you’ve done some climbing indoors and now want to progress to climbing outdoors, this is the course for you! We’ll cover the main skills that are necessary to enable you to climb outside in a safe and competent manner using some of the classic crags of England. By the end of the course you should be able to climb independently outside and be competently seconding climbs.

This is for those with some climbing experience either on an indoor wall or on single pitch crags, but looking to broaden your horizons by venturing onto multi pitch rock routes. Based in either the Lake District, North Wales or the limestone cliffs of the Southern Peak District this course will focus on the more advanced skills required to safely climb mulit-pitch routes. Actual depth of content will be determined by the duration of the course but may include route choice, guidebook interpretation, belay and stance management, anchor construction, route finding, retreat and descent from multi-pitch climbs.

Designed for those with some experience of rock climbing but who now wish to progress and lead their own climbs. Under close supervision we will cover topics including belaying, belay construction, placing and removing protection, choice of routes, equipment for the leader along with plenty of encouragment and coaching. By the end of the course you should have a confident understanding of lead climbing.

The course that will help equip you with the 'tools' and confidence to get out of those tricky situations that can and do occur whilst climbing. Actual depth of content determined by duration of course but topics covered may include anticipating and preventing problems, simple solutions, stance management, sound ropework, escaping the system, use of prussics, hoisting, lowering, abseiling and evacuation. The skills that every climber should have an understanding of.
